Cool Wii: Apples and Oranges

Kinda looks like comparisons of the graphics on a Gamecube and a Wii would be like comparing apples and oranges. Take a look at these:

For those who thought the Wii was just a "Gamecube", take a look at these graphics comparisons:

Interesting Dave.. I think I still like Gamecube better. Mario Kart was great for Gamecube.

I've got 34 games for my Gamecube now.. just got Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2 in the mail yesterday and just purchased Rayman Arena off eBay today.

I plan to buy the Wii.. but won't buy many games until they come down in price.. $50 a game is more than I'd care to spend. Not sure which I'd buy first tho.. I think they should have made the new Zelda game exclusive to the Wii to encourage people to upgrade..

I currently have an Xbox, but will be getting a Wii for my next generation console. I admit the wacky controls are what originally sold me, but the graphics do look nice and the games selection interesting. Also seems like a better system to enjoy playing with my kids.

I'll be getting a Wii on launch. the Zelda game alone is worth it.

Well with the Wii version the controllor movements will be added to the game, on the Gamecube you of course will not get to have those.

My main concern is the failure rate on those "wacky" controls.. problems with calibration, boredom factor, lerning curve, manufacturing defects, etc. That will be the proof in the pudding as it seems to be the main selling point for the Wii.

Wii also has Virtual Console. Can download games from SNES, N64, gamecube etc. cheap and play them on your Wii.

By "cheap", I'd hope they are much less than $10 each..

The graphics are much better, but they are still cartoony. I really hate the cartoony graphics on games. That is why I play PC games and sports games.

My main objection to PC games vs console games is: a game created for the Gamecube will run on EVERY Gamecube, a game created for the PC has to have certain requirements met before it will run, and may not run even then.

Never had to install a patch or update a driver? Too many things about playing games on a PC irk me.. no thanks.. I'll stick to the consoles for games.

The good thing is the fact that it updates the content and makes it better. Making it better and increasing the game play/graphics is a definate bonus for me

The bad thing is: patches and driver updates don't always work the way they're supposed to..

IMO, $10 is too high for N64 games.. you can get most of them on eBay (if you're patient) for less than that.. or buy them at a local game exchange.
