![]() | Thank you for your reply. I appreciate your concern but it is certainly NOT a typo. (Search m-w.com for likability) you're "likeability" is a typo my friend. I've always spelt it "likability" and Merriam-Webster proves you wrong. It's a common word; just type it in Google and look at the first entry; I highly doubt USA Today would goof on spelling ![]() -Thanks

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well I rather think that as I'm English and English is my native language, the correct English spelling is 'Likeability' USA Today is only correct in as much as you have invented another spelling which is simply a corruption of the original. Create your own rules and I guess you cant be wrong. Sure there's a market for your version in the States, but I'll pass and stick with the original. Good luck |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Buy an English Dictionary written by an English lexicographer and not an American dictionary that masquerades as English. The fact that your national press use 'Likability' is a clear statement of the level of corruption of the Worlds most universally spoken language. I suspect the worlds top linguists would take issue with the American view. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=24096 The English Language is not defined by Americans, so your reference to Merriam Webster just serves to emphasise the fact that you only depend on the American view of what constitutes true English and presumably also believe that any views outside your borders have no merit? Personally, I'll stick with my native professors. Long live the English Language LBM

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | original likeability.com for-sale thread, is over here ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=24096 http://www.namepros.com/showthread.p...threadid=24103 Feel free to continue your discussion about spelling and regional dialects here outside of the marketplace. As I see, the bottom line is both spellings are widely used and can be considered correct. Just check Google, they are almost identical in the number of uses of each. http://www.google.com/search?q=likeability vs http://www.google.com/search?q=likability -RJ-

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The one in the dictionary is probably the right spelling. Anyway, Americans are constantly defining new English words, although not the only to do so, of course. Was "blog" a word three years ago? I think not! |
