![]() ![]() ![]() | Whatcha got under the hood? (Hosting Level) Still looking for a host? Are you on a dime-a-dozen cheap hosting plan? Do you have a "reseller" hosting account? Do you have a dedicated server(s) at a server farm? Do you have your hosting server at your business location or you ARE the server farm? Do you run your server from home? Other =========== Just curious. |

I have 12 Servers, 9 of which are used by my clients for there companies... I can't see any need for someone else to need that many servers other than if they have a similar client base. A Cage is very expensive at an NOC, but i've been doing this for quite sometime so I know how to shop for the services that I require. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/the-break-room/23655-whatcha-got-under-hood-hosting-level.html Pm me if you need specifics...

| This is interesting stuff. I'm basically a newb to this area and am currently wading through it all while building a bunch of mini-sites for my names- mostly simple 3-4 pagers that I plan to interlink by subject, and point to my DN sales site. My alternatives, so far, for multisite hosting, range from a neighbor up the street who runs servers from his home (50 sites @$30/mo) to an offer I received that will run 100 sites, 1-4 pagers and 3 larger for $100/year, which, gulp, sounds to good to be true. I'm on a biz cable service w/ download speeds in avg range of 300-450 kbps, so *I think*some flexibility there for running a server or using a virtual server from my pc, but still sifting it out.

![]() ![]() ![]() | careful there.. download speeds mean squat for servers! Me, I'm an early adopter to cable in an area that just got it two years ago - I still get > 1.5Mb down, but my up maxes out @ 256K. |

| Hear ya. Gotta do some homework. My upload speed hovers around the 120's. I'm fairly sure I'm a bit away from my own server- after my ducks are lined up in other areas. Will decide on multi-site server and start putting up the sites I have ready, rather than trying to make one big splash. ready. (Will also get more productive after the first monthly payments start going out.

![]() | I host my personal domains and a couple of other people on a reseller from Symplexity.net at a great deal. It's got more than enough space and bandwidth for my needs.
