| Algebra: Transformation help Hello,
I cannot get ahold of anyone in my class, and maybe one of you can help
Theres the table we base f off of.
The problem:
y=2f(x)
x | y
--------
-2 |
-1 |
0 |
1 |
2 |
3 |
Then I have to graph it. But thats easy. I have all the other ones figured out, but I missed this parts instruction.

Summarize in a sentence. EQUATION EFFECT
1. y=f(x+12) ?
I just need to know how I should write the effect? in words, and im good for the rest.
Thanks! |

· #2 | | NamePros Regular | Just plug the numbers into the equation.
For x=-2, the equation is y=2(1)=2 (since f(-2)=1).
For x=-1, the equation is y=2(-1)=-2 (since f(-1)=-1).
and so on... |

| Yeah I figured that out after getting my mind off it for a bit. Thanks as well
Just need an explanation of what I would put down for the "effect" of that equation. I'm not sure what they want me to put there.

| Basically the equation/graph will be shifted to the left by 12 units. |

Yes, if the constant is inside the parenthesis.
Also, you can graph the equation here: http://www.coolmath.com/graphit/index.html
Just input (x+12) and x |

· #8 | | NamePros Regular | For some reason, I didn't see the last part of the question.
The Effect: There would be a horizontal shift of 12 units to the left. |
