A few simple questions about CPU history ;)

What are the main CPU companies... people who make them...

And which one is biggest?

Ill donate 100np$ to the one with the longest, and best answer to both of these questions.

vip-ip is an unknown quantity at this point

Intel, AMD; Intel is the biggest You see them in most of the machines nowadays, like Dell, etc. AMD is for gamers -- more performance, more pricey

I hope I get 100 np$

Intel is a big company, I would suggest getting a intel pentium 4 processor or a intel celeron. Whats the difference?

Intel Pentium's are for gamers, along with amd. Intel Celerons run cooler then pentiums. (So your computer doesnt overheat)

I would go with a Intel Pentium 4. Thats what around 90% of every computer manufacturer puts in their pc's.

Hmm, let me try and write this. Im not a professional on computers so bare with me.

Intel is the biggest cpu company (processor) and they are the best. Then there comes amd, and then some crappy no name brands. Intel has 2 types of processors (Pentiums and Celerons) Atleast i think they do Intel Pentiums have more cycles or roatations per minute then celerons. Thats why more gamers use Pentiums. Celerons have less rotations per minute (rpm) so they dont heat up as fast and your computer will not overheat. I would go for a p4 (pentium 4) even if you arnt a gamer.

Intel sells 80.5% of the chips on the market, AMD sells 16.6 therefore AMD produces one out of every 6 PC chips. This is the largest market share AMD has had in years. Only problem is, AMD isn't making a profit. And when they have, it hasn't been much. In 2003-2004 they turned very small profits (less then $200,000) but at the end of 2004 they slipped into the red and have continued to stay there.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=125887

AMD's 2004 Revenue was $5 billion whereas Intel's was $34 billion.

AMD is currently building a massive producation plant in Germany which will allow them to mass produce chips to an extreme. An extreme that they really don't need. Their current plant can make up to 50 million processors a year however the plant they are building will be able to double their capacity to 100 million chips a year by 2008.

Once AMD consistently makes a profit they should be able to increase their market share.

The average cost of a AMD microprocessor chip is $80 whereas Intel's is $150.

Other examples of microprocessor producers are Hewlett-Packard & IBM.

I believe IBM has the fastest right now.

AMD is probably (this is based on no fact) winning when it comes to techies personal PC's but in reality Intel is still winning majorly overall.
