Grrrr.... false rep minuses....

Hi,

Does it bother you when somebody lowers your rep even though you didn't DO anything?

For example, my Copyscape topic over in Legal Issues ... somebody lowered my rep with comment: "nice referral"

Can anybody find a REFERALL link there!? I mean, geez!

People: DON'T lower rep just cause you had a bad day or something. Do it for legit reasons only...

I have had this happen once, however I didn't make much of it, as the majority of users can only lower reputation by a point or two max, so it's not hard to get back.

It doesn't really bother me if someone lowered my rep if he/she had a valid reason. If they do it for no apparent reason though, I would've liked to know why they did it in the first place..

My rep was lowered for an auctioned domain (?). No comment whatsoever, maybe someone angry because he/she didn't win?. However, the well meaning people on this board far outnumber the shady characters, so there's not much to worry about, IMO.

I checked and don't think what you're seeing are negative reputations, but rather neutral reputations. Green boxes are positive, red boxes are negative, grey boxes are neutral.

Positive reps are counted as neutral if the person leaving the reputation is a new member without the posts or reputation themselves to award reputation to other members.

I think by "nice referral", they were thanking you for referring them to the site. So don't fret... keep up the good posts!

Oh!!! I get it! *lol* I feel really stupid now. It's a gray box... I thought that meant bad rep.. (I thought there was just bad/good rep)...
