But one day my rep just shot up to 300, and I went into my user cp, and no-one had given me any rep, bar the stuff I already had!

Ask RJ to explain it to you...

I will keep it simple:

the green boxes have nothing todo with the amount of TR. if people like your post or thread they click on the rep button and they can say good or bad and a reason.

if they add positive ( no one can see if its positive or negative ) then you get a couple of points. and then the bar increases and when you go over with your mouse on the boxes you will see a text.

example:

xlusive will be famous soon
or
xlusive is a nice person ;-)
