Program To Screen Record?

Hey, I'm look for a program to record my screen as a video. I cannot find any programs to do this. I know that there are programs like this, because video tutorials on the internet record the screen (such as photoshop tutorials). Does anyone know where I can get a program like that? Also, I would like it to have an option to either record the whole screen, or just the active window..

or you could just screenshot the screen then put them in windows movie maker???

That wouldn't really make a video... unless I take a thousand screen captures and put them together to make an animation lol
