Registrar wharehousing: until when?

ROM.ORG and YOY.COM are being snagged by Tucows after their respective owners have deceased.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/short-domain-discussion/731181-registrar-wharehousing-until-when.html
No doubt that later on they will be moved to YummyNames domain portfolio in an inexpensive way and showcased for very "nice" values.

So i wonder: until when will this be allowed? Don't anyone also thinks that this is unfair competition? Don't anyone think that this is a clear conflict of interests situation? That this is at minimum unethical? How can a registrar have the right to take ownership of a domain, for reg fee, when not even the children or widow of the previous owner have right to them and see their access to the domains being denied by Registrars, even the most reputed ones like Network Solutions?

The Joe and Jane domainers don't have any power and say on this unless they stand together, but where are the medium and big players? This hurts them too.

Am I being too socialist?

regards,
tonecas

One thing is for sure, domain owners need to plan ahead and leave the keys to their loved ones. Yes there is something wrong imo. Registrars are supposed to be trusted (?) custodians of your online estate. Like a bank. Whether they are fit for the task is debatable
