www.xx sales?

Hi,

Can anyone contribute to this post, detailing any sales they know
about, of 'www' + TLD domains? Just to clarify, 'www' would be
the domain, so a well-known example of such a name might be:

Not looking for instances of hypothetical/theoretical names, out of
your imagination, but real genuine domains that have been sold.

Cheers,

That's a nice domain with lots of traffic.

I believe that most of the newer registries have kept this term (and others like "net," "web," "com," etc.) in reserve or for their own purposes. For example, neustar owns .us domain registry, web address registration and NamePros.com - Powered by vBulletin. ICANN owns Afilias | Internet infrastructure solutions that connect you to your data.. WorldCom Canada owns www.net. World Wide Consortium owns World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

As for ccTLDs, DomainTools Whois says:

"The most popular country codes for this domain have already been registered."

Added: Wow, where did all these links come from?

www [.] us = Neustar

www [.] biz = Neustar

www [.] info = ICANN

www [.] net = WorldCom Canada

www [.] org = World Wide Web Consortium
