Some (5L) LLLLL.com statistics

5lku2.gif

Here are some stats on 5L.com domains that I have compiled. I have seen a lot of people throwing different numbers around about what is left and how fast they are going so I figured this would add a little transparency and clear some things up for those who are interested.

The data is compiled from zone file scans so all domains that do not have nameservers are considered available. This means these numbers are not exact, and the number of registered domains is actually slightly higher for each category. From tests I've run less than 1% of registered domains do not have nameservers so the margin of error is very small, and the data is more than accurate enough for this purpose. To run a full scan on 11.8 million domains would take several days and be outdated by the time it completed (I am actually working on a way to get more accurate counts instantly with one of my upcoming projects).

Enjoy the data and let me know if you have any questions about it.

Great post and thanks for your work in providing this valuable info. It's good to see the raw numbers rather than get carried away with all these countdown threads.

So who's going to buy the remaining 10,644,468 domains?

Only cost around 50 Mill, there must be some one out there who would love a monoply on 5L domains. :)

I'll be adding another 1,000 or so to my portfolio in the next couple of weeks. However I shouldn't be too greedy so I'll leave the ptjer 10,663,468 to you others :hehe:

These are great statistics, thanks for the research, rep added. When I looked at most of my LLLLL.com's I realized they are CVCVV which looks likely to be the first bought out from these stats (yahoo, vimeo, and other top sites are CVCVV's).

Yep, a lot of people talk about VCVCV and CVCVC like they are the only 5L worth regging. That's one of the reasons I posted this, since it shows they are actually 3rd and 4th on the list (although the top 4 are all fairly close and quite a distance percentage wise ahead of the rest).

Are there any lists of CVCVV and CVVCV available?

Thanks for this.

VVVVV.com with 80% left. This helps confirm my personal theory that VVVV.com are overated.

I think many of the "domainer collectible" type LLLL.coms will have very little success in the 5L extension, but nevertheless people appear to be regging them.

Many of these VVVVV's have less Google results than even the weakest LLLL.coms. Compare that to the pronounceable 5L.coms which often have results comparable or even exceeding LLLL.coms, and I sure know where I'd be placing my money in this segment if I were investing in it...

I'm not much of a fan of VVVV.coms myself either, despite owning a couple.

time to update your stats rpanella .... things have really changed for the VCVCV.com sector, I believe that 32,000+ are taken making it only 42% available this month .... a jump to the number one spot on your chart.

Can 2 other people confirm my findings ... it will be official when the results are the same.

I'll post a new chart when I get a chance within the next few days.

There have been a lot of VCVCV regged recently but also quite a few CVCVV. VCVCV passed up CVVCV to become the second most regged percentage wise, but it is still trailing CVCVV.

I own one of the few VVVVV.com's. It's also a palindrome with only two letters, I'm accepting offers ;)

That would be another interesting stat to see. The palindrome 5L.coms that are reged.

Thanks alot for the stats rpanella. It's nice to see it all together in one place. I'll be checking back often for updates.

I made a post about this in another thread not too long ago GG, and actually about 70% of the 17576 palindromes are still available. Keep in mind that a huge percentage are CCCCC which are not pronounceable at all (eg xdzdx.com).

If you only look at VCVCV and CVCVC palindromes, which are generally quite pronounceable, it is closer to only 10% available.

Russell, just wanted to thank you for making the list. Came in real handy today, so I'm sending you a rep + some NP$. Thanks again :)

Thanks Reece :)

I updated the data in the original post. As you can see, people have been regging a lot of VCVCV's lately and the pace has also picked up for the CVCVV and CVVCV.
