LLL attack -> Maybe NP should make a special thread section?

The "LLL for sale" became lately 50% of the posts in all forums.
I think most of the mania made by resellers for resellers.
LLL changed hands again and again.

I think it would better has its own thread
and leave a nice space for the "real" generic domains...

Lets hear your pro or creative ideas...

It isn't a bad idea, but there are also subforums for .tv, .us, and .mobi which can encompass some LLL domains.

But a category for just LL or LLL names could encompass all extensions I think...

I like the idea...

Being a fan of numeric names I would also like to see a place for them.

I think these are niche/specialty markets (and lucrative ones) that would be easier to follow if they had their own "showroom"

Mods....please don't hate me...

One of the things that hurts the domaining industry is that lack of liquidity in the market. Having an easier place to spot LLL domains may help increase liquidity in the marketplace. This is probably the best argument for having a separate LLL area of the forum.

Perhaps a specialized sales area for NN/NNN and LL/LLL would do the trick, and then the High Priced Domains could be just for Generics...

I agree that an LL/LLL and NN/NNN specific section/thread would be a nice addition to NP.

I prefer the idea of a section for short domains (5 characters or less). I'm interested in 2,3,4 and 5 character domains as they all share that limited supply and acronym potential characteristics.

Well, LLLLL aren't really very rare at this point at all. One could make an argument to include LLLL, but even that is borderline until they run out.

it has good sides and bad sides.
you will get more targetted audiences by having a seperate area for LLL, however, you will lose a lot of potential buyers who browse only the gerneal for sale category, who could have stumbled otherwise unto an LLL thread and bought.

I agree with this -for me the forum is already too separated, and if I am brutally honest, I think the traffic and high priced sections have several issues that need addressing before things are complicated further. Having a section for LLL will just see an influx of LLL.ccTLD's and then it will have to be split again and again etc. I think it is difficult to know where to list a lot of domains already- having a section for LLL names won't stop them being listed elsewhere, and what parameters do you set? Having a premium LLL.com next to xzq.be for example will acheive nothing as the people looking for these are not the same.
Sounds like a headache to me.

everyday the same LLL switching hands like a carousel ...
Let the LLL resellers fight and trade the LLL between them , and let the other domainers (85%) deal with generic . brandable , made up domains.

And if an enduser will come to NP he almost knows what he wants.
The LLL thread will make it even easier for him.

wow, it is just a trend. it will go away. Creating an entire sub category for them will make it more of a pain.
in any case, most domians sold are changing hands between resellers, regardless of what domains they are.

if a section was going to be created for LLL names, they must exclude crappy extensions such as .name etc...

I guess I got sidetracked and was thinking along the lines of a discussion section. After re-reading the thread, I realise that we are talking more along the lines of a sales section and your point is valid and more relevant to the initial discussion.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=295917

Along the lines of discussion section of a thread I would prefer 5 characters. 5 Number zipcode domains are quite popular and even non-zipcodes 5 number domains have some interest. Brandable 5 letter domains are often selling with high profits on eBay every week and so there has been at least one in-depth discussion on these a couple of months back.

Apparently the sticky got taken down? The link doesn't even work anymore for the LLL domain sales thread. Bill, did we get overruled?
