Expired PR5 Domain With No Backlinks?

acumenjapan.com PR5 expired domain, I used yahoo site explorer, and find out it has no backlinks.

1) So, if I was to recover it (buy it from the owner), will it still be PR5, lets say few days or months later?

2) When a domain entered the expired status, does that means google will actually drop all previous backlinks linked to it? Where did the backlinks go?

Google devaluing backlinks wouldn't affect Yahoo site explorer (which, btw, is closing down Monday 11/21.)

Are you sure about that number? Could that be a fake PR5? The non-www version is a 0. A quick look in archive.org shows it was a 302 redirect to lek.com (which has plenty of backlinks and may be ranked a 5) - that would create the PR5 you're seeing.

Even if that's not the case, if you can't find any backlinks those green pixels would disappear the next time Google updates toolbar page rank.
