Natural exact search question...

I'm well aware that having a natural match domain name is a BIG plus. Here's my question though...

I found a GREAT natural match keyword phrase that I can snatch up. It gets 1,900 exact searches per month & is in a competitive market for a small area. I think this would be ripe for an end-user sale, but...

The .com extension is already taken. I looked it up & it's not being used - just parked on godaddy. The .net IS available.

Sooooo...

Do .net's have the same ability as far as exact match is concerned? If someone types canned gravy into their search engine & I own cannedgravy.net, is it just as good for first page top rankings as the .com, or, will being a .net hurt it's natural search ranking??

Also, if the keyword is a high demand one with many monthly searches, would it pay to snatch it up for an end user sale even though it's a .net???

Yes.

Depends on the market for that niche - how big the potential end user buyer pool is, and how much they know (or care) about domains, how much of an investment they typically make, what their competitors are doing, etc. Some end users would rather have their brand/company name or SomeBigLongNameThatDomainersWouldShun as long as it's a .com, others would use anything they can get.

m6net is an unknown quantity at this point

No concerns with the .net and for your advantage the .com is parked. Make smart combination of title and meta tags of your site to match your keyword. Also put the appropriate content in the h1, h2 etc. With these things hope your site comes soon in the google.
