Low is better

To start out low is better. Easier to see what is working.

start with low competition keywords and then make move for highly competitive keywords.

Choosing a right keywords is very important sometimes you find a gem which has less competition but provides decent traffic.

Low competition, high search volume if possible! I use market samuari to asses keywords, there are probably other tools as well.

Ideally, you want keywords that have alot of searches, but fewer competitors. If you want to do research for free, you can always use the Google AdWords tool. It will give you global and local search numbers. Then, you can simply type the keyword into a Google search, and see how many results come up. The more results listed, the higher the competition for that particular keyword.

Personally, when I'm researching keywords, I try to keep the competition under 3 million search results. Depending on your niche, though, that's not always possible. However, if I see 100 million results pop up for a certain keyword, I know it's going to be much tougher to rank for.

Besides low competition, I also analyze the top 10 competitors to make sure I can outrank them. I think this is an important part of the strategy as well.

I think first you consider the number of searches for the particular keyword and then choose the one which has low competitors. This will help in getting the desired results.

i personally prefer two keyword searching trick or techniques

1) Using Google Keyword tool

https://adwords.google.com/o/Targeti...AS#search.none

2) Get inside the mind of the searcher or think as the searcher

Less competitive words

Well, I think the less competitive words are much better at the beginning and you can see what happened according to your work more clearly.

I am agreed with this answer, you can start with the low competitive keywords but move to the highly competitive keywords later on.

Hi Touch2know,

Which keyword is to be used is depend on the your clients requirement if he need that ranking with the high competitive a keyword then you gave to work for this. But inform him that to optimize these keywords takes more time and effort.

according to if client say choose your own then chose which keyword or key-phrase which had medium demand and supply. These keywords takes less time and also need less effort to rank in search engine ranking.

The first thing that you should consider is what targeted keyword and check for competitiveness for those keywords. Try to use long tail keywords it helps to get a good traffic and less competition.

The selection depends upon your SEO expertise.
If you have sound SEO experience, then you can straight away compete with high level competition. The results depend upon various factors too.
