Getting verified and a few more Q's

So Ive had a few websites up for a while now, and recently I noticed a jump in traffic from 1 website. When I checked google had upgraded the website to a more used search term, even though I had not specified that in the seo for the pages. Not that I am complaining

But, I recently placed a website up and without thinking/forgetting I got it verified by google with the same seo terms for each page... although ive altered it now. So its been a week now and the seo still shows the old terms and it is hard to find it anwhere for any term. Now I need this fixing but am concerned that this may take a long long time. How does it work when you change the search terms for your pages? Whats the typical turnaround time?

Getting verified proves you are the owner (or at least the website administrator) of that site.

Submitting your site to search engines is a 1990's thing that's no longer necessary or advisable. Just get a couple of links to it and create a sitemap and submit it to webmaster tools, it will get crawled.

Get a couple of other sites to link to yours.

It's a special type of document which lists all the pages of your site in a standard format. If you do a search for something like generate google sitemap you'll find a few free online programs that will make one for you - all you have to do is save the file they create and upload it to your site.
