????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/search-engines/649639-sub-domain-subfolder-more-search-engine.html 1. A subdomain requires making changes to web server configuration (apache, iis, tomcat, etc), but not for a subdirectory; you just create the subdirectory and off you go 2. DNS resolution is required for a subdomain to be visible to the web whereas no additional dns resolution is needed for the subdirectory other than the initial dns config for the main domain 3. Your webhost may not allow you to create subdomains or they may only allow only 1 or 2 subdomains. There is usually no such restriction on dsubdirectories. | ||||

![]() | I really don't know why there are two people commenting this thread saying sub domains and folders are the same for SEO Because they are not Page rank won't transfer to sub domains but will transfer to sub folders... not only page rank but also if you've spent ages working on back links etc getting your site to rank well etc then you will have to do all that work all over again for the sub domain I do think tho that search engines consider sites with sub domains as being reletively seperate from the main domain.. and content is king .. so having your content split between domain and sub domain may just hinder your effort even further |

![]() ![]() | subdomians are considered as separate sites where subfolders are part of the same site. so when it comes to SEO, subfolders are are your best option.
