Question about Content with Google

Ok. Here is my issue:

I have a mini site with some content and I have decided to make a better site. This mini site is indexed. I want to use a new domain I have acquired as well, and would like to know if there is anyway I can use my old content for my new site.

How can I do this without being penalized by Google for duplicate content, etc?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Cancer Survivorship
1) If it's not already there, put your current site in Webmaster tools and verify it
2) Build the new site.

As soon as possible after it goes live:

3) Verify it
4) 301 (permanent) redirect all the pages from the old site to the corresponding pages on the new site. It may be advisable to do a few first and check that the redirect worked as planned.

5) File a "change of address" with Google.
6) Change any backlinks you control and ask other sites linking to you to update their links.
7) Keep the old domain for at least 6 months.

Google recommends that if you're redesigning AND moving to do it in 2 steps - i.e. move first then update the design.

maybe you can use 301 redirect, and add the post on your new site.

Follow enlytend's advise. The steps are directly suggested by Google.

You can also notify Google the change of address later over at your Google Webmaster tools account.

Enlytned,
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=627271

That's a great tutorial, I have wondered about this myself. I didn't know that Google had an official position on this issue - thank you for the link!

I do not foresee any penalization if you simply copy and paste the content from the old domain if you straight away delete the page after the content is transferred.
