Does it make sense to submit to High PR directories

Hey all, I have a question that I have not gotten a clear answer to.. Does it make sense to submit my site to High PR directories? It seems like a good idea, but generally most of the "experts" seem to shy away from as a waste of time..

What do you guys think?

Thanks

I think most people get confused.. The PR of the directory doesn't matter at all -- the PR of the page your directory listing is on and the number of links on that page is all that matters and it matters much less than it did in the past. How many links are on the page, relevance, the directory's trust -- much more complicated than just pagerank nowadays.

Personally, I think it's a waste of time other than taking 10 minutes to submit to DMOZ and the Yahoo Directory or possibly Business.com if you can justify the expense.

Hi,

Directory submission is worthless now a days but if you are submitting your link to high PR directories then you can get PR juice because backlinks from high PR directories can counted as quality backlinks for your sites.

Thanks

I think submitting a site to high PR directories or submitting site to trusted directories will still help the site. For example, submitting to Yahoo Directory and being approved will help gain some trust.

I personally think that submitting a site to 1000's of directories will not bring any good results but submitting to trusted directories is still good.

Submitting a site to high PR directories may not increase your site's traffic but will surely help in increasing the PR of your site. When they add your link to their directory, they're actually passing their PR juice to your site and they're losing nothing for it. No doubt, paid submissions are good but not everyone can go for that.

HI

You can get software to help you submit to hundreds of directories in a few hours and I do it for every new website I create... You can also hire people to submit to directories... 1000+ at a time for as low as $15... well worth it...

You only need 1 visitor from all that would to make your money back if your sell your own products online and you at least make $15 profit per sale..

Thx
Tom

Hi,

I dont think that you can buy manual submission services for this rate $15.00 only for 1000+ submission.

And if you are using auto submission then how can you get traffics because now a days about all directories are using spam protection by type special words or captcha. And auto submission will not give you report of those sites.

If you are buying manual submission services then you can get good response from web directories too. Generally web directories submission are beneficial to collect one way link for very low price and these links will promote your site PR only.

Thanks

PR is assigned on "per page" basis. If the page that your site listed in has a good PR and it's a direct dofollow link, it shall contribute some PR value to your site.

Danger: Submitting your sites using Mass Directory Submission services may causes permanent damage to your site.

Google et al are well aware of all this and it will likely do you more harm than good.

However, being added to 10 to 100 such sites over time will be fine.
As in all life, excess is the root of all evil.

Directories now a days are useless because established directories charge you to be listed on their website and new directories have no benefit at all even if you get listed there.

Don't pay

I would not pay big dollars for submitting to a high PR directory. Submitting to directory sites that actually have ALL their pages indexed is useful for SERPs but won't do anything for PR. Another problem is getting your links actually approved.
