signature links

If you take a look at my sig, you'd see that I'm linking to the different pages on my site, will each link count as a back-link to the page it is linking to or will search engines only index the first link?

All links in your signature are considered as backlinks and Google and other search engines will count them all.

There is no rule to just consider first link in the signature

And only thing to note here is that: links from signatures are not much relevant and are not high quality links.

Even you don't see them when using the link:yoursite.com

on Google. It is considered as backlinks. Specially if the forum allows the sigs to be dofollow.

it also matters whether or not the site/forum has a no follow tag (like Yahoo Answers and Wikipedia) in those cases you dont get page rank juice from those sites because they use the no follow tag.

Hope this help,
Andrew

It still has value but it is more preferable to participate in similar themed forums of your website.

It's very nice, that you're linking to different pages to your site. Tht's much better to do this, than make links to only main page

I think you're confusing having multiple links in a document or signature to the SAME page with different anchor text, as to associate that pages with multiple keywords and phrases. In a case like that, Google only counts the first link and keyword phrases as being relevant to that page. The remaining links to the SAME page are discounted.

This is not always the case...some threads are not indexed within Google...mostly random offtopic forum threads but if you take an obscure thread and copy and paste some text from it sometimes you see you get 0 results in major search engines. 90% of the time these sig links will show up however and yes you can have multiple links pointing to multiple landing pages and still all "count" if the page gets crawled.

Except if the forum is nofollow, its counted as backlinks use your google webmaster tools or yahoo explorer to check.
Though signature links are not considered as quality link because many links are on a page that shares the link juice, its more better for promotion...

I've got alot of back-links and most of which are from signatures and non-related sites (non-quality); and out of all that, I only got PR1 :/ Its for sure I'm going to mainly concentrate on quality links; but I guess sig links are great for mainly traffic rather than SEO.

Forum signatures SHOULD give you backlinks but forums have an amazing amount of pages indexed which means many of their pages also become deindexed in SE's so your links that once existed would no longer exist. Granted it's not a huge % but no link building technique yields 100% of your efforts.

In response to the original question, Yes, all links in the sig. are counted as backlinks with relevant links with do follow given more weightage..More links in signature will obviously devalue your other links.
