It was pretty much dead in the water until that news article.
All I can say is that Google have never done some of the stupid things that Microsoft have. I personally trust Google highly. Its not in their nature to "control". They provide excellent services, thats why they are popular, period.
Google real monster... I believe soon they will come to me and say that they are buying me... lol

Google is in my opinion, one of the biggest successes the computing industry has ever had. I believe that they are an amazing company and Digg would be excellent in their hands.
I have a close connection who is from another party interested in buying Digg and are very serious about it. They told me that Google pulled out or is thinking of it because they aren't happy with the terms. . . Don't know if there is truth to that, just thought I'd share.
Hm. That is interesting. Anyway I think if they by it that wouldn't be shock for everyone here.

Yeah I seem to remember hearing this story about 6 months ago, but not sure if it was google or if google was named.
It's interesting to find out that google wants Digg. Good strategy on Google's part.. probly will hurt people submitting to digg for SEO purposes though. Just my 2 cents.
I have seen a few posts on some industry blogs again about the possible purchase of Digg by Google. They already own the #1 video sharing website YouTube so why not own the #1 social news websites on the net too
It will be interesting to watch Google over the next few years. They just bought a video startup Omnisio and another contextual ad company ZAO Begun to add to their already powerful internet real estate.
