If its not your own site, you can also use quantcast.com or alexa.com - they are not accurate figures but could very well give out estimates. Hope that helps.

Your title is a bit misleading. You said something about Google banning a site then in your first post you inquire about traffic... oh well, I wanted to ask something along the lines of Google banning a site too. How would you know exactly if your website is banned? Do you get an email or something?

No it stops showing up in the index and you won't find your site in the index even with the
site:sitename.com command

There are many tools available that anyone can use to check their Traffic like Google analytics, Statcounter, Sitemeter.com

ah I see... so what if the site just hasn't been indexed yet? Would it still show when I type in site:sitename.com ?
