I wasted my time since December without any good result... I quit submitting my sites to directories.. It's giving me no result... Out of 1500 submissions to 1,500 directories submitted since December at about 10 directories/day, around 1200 are accepted and less than 50 are recognized by google.... I'm tired...

Submitting to 100000 directories won't do you much good. That's quite popular (many people offer that service), but it's not effective. Most of those directories never get scanned and you won't get backlinks -- it won't help your site.

If you're going to submit to directories anyway, submit to relevant directories. Submit to niche directories (directories that have something in common with your site's theme).

Humm... Well in my case it is giving good effects though.

Are you using relevant keywords for your submissions and relevant categories and multiple titles and all?

Maybe yes but don't know why it is not working in some people's cases and working for some.

99.9 % dont do enough to get ranking for there catogory keywords

99.9 % are the same

99.9 % have 100's if not thousands of crappy websites listed

99.9 % are owned by webmasters looking for a quick buck

99.9 % only get webmaster traffic which is no good to bob, dick or harry who is looking for traffic that would find tig welder information helpfull

i think if do a lot of indexing there's no need to do directory submission.

What kind of directories I submitted to is not a question. I know what I am doing and I don't need tutorial about keywords.

Al;l I can say is, directory submission sucks and don't have good result... just a waste of time whether it is a niche directory or not.. Even if you submit your site to directories with high PR, still useless because your site will be listed on page where 3 clicks away from pages with high PR.. and most directories are nofollow.

which directories you submit to is actually a very valid question. the directories you submit to could bring you cold hard traffic, and some are very well recognized (i.e., dmoz).

My blog is an seo and moneymaking blog so of course I submitted it to hundreds of SEO and webmaster resources directories...

IMHO, directory submissions work fine. Or at least, I've done well with them. Since you obviously know what you are doing, it must be the directories that you are using that suck. So, what directories did you use (please list a few names)? Thanks for the info.

Mainly directory submission is used for backlink purpose rather that traffic.

If you looking for traffic then i would suggest going for Social Bookmarking or Article Submission

you guys going out of topic.. I did not mention I needed traffic... what I said was my site did never listed in google through those directories.... I have better option now so bye bye directories...

I am not trying to go off topic. You said directories don't work. I am asking which directories do you mean? All I am doing is trying to get more information.

I also keep asking the age of your site. From my observations, Google likes older sites more. If your site was registered in December 2007, not being in Google today isn't that abnormal, IMHO. Maybe your directory submissions are working; they are just not working as fast as you would like.

By the way, everyone could use some more traffic. I don't think there is ever a point when somebody has enough visitors.

My site is created 15 Oct 2007 but started promoted late Novemver - it is now greatly indexed with major competitive keywords but non of these came from directories.. its all because of my rich content... here is an example http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...ums&btnG=Search

The directory submissions (along with backlinks) tell the Search Engines that you exist. I used "link:myseoblog.net & site:myseoblog.net" at Google to see how you are indexed (1,430 & 14,200 respectively). Google definitely knows you are there and you have a GPR of 3. Considering that your site is only 8 months old, you are doing really well IMO.

Well after reading all this stuff and as this topic is getting heated. I think I will also get my opinion out.

I think maybe you are submitting it wrong.
I think your site itself sucks <<< I have never ever said this in my last 4800 posts but well I have to say it right now. Because you are posting the thread ruining the reputation on many well known directories on which search engines do depend as they are the human edited one and their votes counts the most.

But when your statement is challenged by some other users you are saying you haven't asked for opinions. Well that is not the format of the forums. If you want to just make statements then you have to post on your personal sites where no one will be allowed to give opinions. But you cannot disallow other members here to give their opinions.

Those people were just trying to help you. If you were wrong. And if you think you weren't wrong then you have to prove it why you aren't wrong.

I will list a few.

Yahoo directory, Google directory, DMOZ [Already google.com directory stuff], Wowdirectory, skaffe.com, joeant, I have loads of others. But if you think you are being rejected from there then You have to think WHY

One more thing dude..... The results show Results 1 - 10 of about 49,100 for dofollow forums.

That is not competitive keyword It is the bottom low. 49K results and you can't beat them? I can beat them myself with directory submission purely. I promise.

I think you need to check your blood pressure... The first one is Link and has 1,320.

.... and if you are going to click on page 21, you will find out that the actual list is only 201... that shows how inaccurate google is... and of that 201 lists, there are only 21 directory listings (out of around 1,500 submitted since last November)

And the second link has actually 141 instead of 14,200... (page 18)
