Since this is a retail store we are looking to increase exposure in the LA area, as you all know retail doesn't generate huge profits so we can't pump a ton of money into seo. I need a good plan to build the seo program slowly ~ 100 bucks a month
hi Nick, either way I am really open. you can see what I hae done so far. But this type of business can only make so much, so we can't shell out a ton of cash for seo, because in the long run we will NOT make it back.
So I can pay a little bit or if you have some suggestion on where to buy links, and what type of content to write that would be nice. Of course I can pay for all this stuff too
Humm..... I was asking so that if you were looking for services I can move this thread to SEO services section.
But as you don't know let me start with helping you out here.
First of all I checked the website it is in Flash. So the most important thing is title of page, meta tags and footer as it doesn't have crawlable content.
You will also have to put much more weight on the off page side to get best rankings.
Humm... your site is nice If I was owner I would also have been in dilemma of taking the flash off and putting crawlable content.
I am not saying that flash sites cannot be optimized. But if it was crawlable content then it would have been a lot easier.
If you yourself know how to redesign the site in HTML or PHP then it would be great.
If you have some developer then you can give him tips to rip off this flash make some PSD out of it. And make a site out of it.
I have no doubts that the market which this site is targetting is saturated one and your competitors will also be doing SEO and marketing. So get that extra edge you need every bit of help that is possible. [Crawlable content]
Another way is that you can put some content based stuff like blog or something and then bait people from it. So that they will land on your pages. But still as mentioned earlier I would love to have every bit of help from the site as much as possible so that I could have competed against other sites.
Okay, I am going to add a ton of relavent content today. then maybe next month we can covert the site over to non-flash. any ideas where to purchase some links?
Login\Create your Google Webmasters Central account and use the geo-targeting feature, this will help you organic local search results greatly. You can PM me if you have trouble setting this feature.
I reviewed the site and I have the following concerns:
1. Choice of tools. You have chosen to develop the site in flash with little if any actual text (mostly binary pictures and graphical representation of text). SE's index sites based on the text. They can see or read pictures of text with their spider bots. For any SE to index your site, text needs to be visible in the html source, not flash pictures of text.
2. While aesthetically pleasing, there is little useful content on the site. For sites that provide useful cigar content see the best shops on the internet. Some of my favorites include: www.cigar.com and www.jrcigars.com. A smaller brick and mortar store website similar to what you are developing and hopefully trying to achieve is www.holts.com. All three sites get it right. Check them out.
3. The site should be intuitive and just work. Many of the brands listed should be clickable for more information. The contact form gives no indication that it actually did anything after you fill out the form and click submit. I could list about 10 other issues but I normally get paid for that.
Summary: You really need a lot more here than just SEO. The site, while pretty is just not at all useful. Study the largest sites that sell cigars, they have it right. Give your audience a reason to find you on the web.
Okay, title fixed and the wireless info is removed. Now I need to get the inventory online, I think once we have all those items that should really give the site a ton of content
