Why?

Hey all,

Well ive always thought that Google would be the hardest search engine to start getting ranked high in (and it is with 99% of my sites ).

But heres the ranking stats for one of my sites http://torrentsites.org
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/search-engines/172303-why.html

for the search "torrent sites":
google - ~15th
msn - ~20th
yahoo - ~1000th!

Why is it that yahoo is ranking me so low? Anyone have any suggestions that I could take under my belt?

Ive tried optiizing keywords and the description and thats brought me up from about rank 80 to 15 in google. But thats as far as my knowldege goes lol.

Thanks!
Regards, Rhett.

The important thing you can do to your ranking is to include the keyword in the title you submit to Yahoo, also include keywords in your description. Being listed in a category that has a keyword in its name definitely increases your ranking for that keyword.

Yahoo is one of the worst. Most webmasters I read about, always complain that they get the minimilist traffic from yahoo. One reason could be that it got so many sponsored links that your link goes to 1000. Rest is because of algo difference. And how much that algo gives importance to keywords in domain name.

I am surprised that google gives that postion. Good luck,

Gamehouse

Thanks Peter, I'll try and give more specific keywords in my title and description, i tried, but my imagination isn't what you'd call good ("i delibaretly picked a plain word to emphasize that LOL").

Yer I have noticed that sponsered links thing to get your rank higher or something... which is lame on yahoo's part .
But oh well .
Im surprised that google gave me a pretty high ranking too.
If I can get to 10th in google . Id be soo happy lol, much more traffic then (on the first page).

Yaaay here's an update:
For searching for "torrent sites"-
Google: 8th
Msn: 1st
Yahoo: 1,000,000,000,000th?

Anyone have any more suggestions for me?

I've tried putting keywords in the title, description, keywords, repeat those keywords in some of the websites' descriptions, and added a few hidden kewods (I know thats not recommended lol).

Anything else I can try? I'll try and mod it to .html pages also.

Thanks!
Regards, Rhett.

SiteBroker is on a distinguished road

One thing you are lacking is backlinks, remember backlinks are the main factor which ranks your site so improve on that you will move up no doubt. Id remove the hidden text or atleast use some css and layers etc try to make it harder for se's to spot. The main thing though is someone reporting your site for this, google have opened up a special section now just for reporting sites breaking their tos. Id asume theres competition for that term and you have probably been reported already. I know the rank1 .tk site it also using hidden text but is it worth the risk for you? If it is then go full out rather then just hidden text. I blackhat but only on sites specificaly set up for cpc and affiliate earnings, sites i expect to have at max 2 months before there banned but will be top of the rankings for a short time, i would not use hidden text either, as its so easy to spot. Goodluck to you though.

Hey SiteBroker,
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=172303

Thanks for your reply. I've deleted the hidden keywords as it's probably too risky as you've said.

And I'll try to get a few more links to my site . Thanks muchly SiteBroker, Rep added.

Anyone else?
Thanks!
Rhett.

Hey all... FINALLY!!! I have been indexed within the top 100 results in yahoo

An update:

Google: 9
MSN: 7
Yahoo: 78

I have tried converting as many links as possible (that the software allows) to be .html now.

And I've also added a link to the site on all of my webpages. And have also added it to topsites to gain backlinks.

Does anyone have any more suggestions at all?

Thanks muchly again!

Rhett.

just keep building links, yahoo loves links with good anchor text. You should be trying to get at least 2000-3000 backlinks to do well in yahoo.
