MSN loves my site, Google hates it.

My site (x 3 6 0 e d g e . c o m) is pretty high in a lot of rankings on MSN. Like its 7th for Xbox 360 Tutorial, and other stuff its even higher. However, it's google pagerank is 0, and it doesn't come up for much of anything besides its own name on Google. Any way I can fix this, or is MSN just overly obsessed with my site?

adman_9000 is an unknown quantity at this point

Google tends to be alot more picky, especially with new sites. Took me 6 months to even appear on google and Im only now (1 year later) appearing on page one for any of my targetted search terms. MSN however threw me straight in at number one less than a month after launch and I've stayed there ever since.
Work on getting backlinks and dont do any 'naughty' stuff that may get you blacklisted, you'll get there!

Srbshooter you need backlinks, backlinks and more backlinks! Seriously people always ask on forums why they rank low, why spiders dont visit their sites, all you need is backlinks. Email webmasters in the same niche sites as yours for link exchanges, make sure you use your major keyword as your anchor text also.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/search-engines/167515-msn-loves-my-site-google-hates.html
Your pagerank is 0 because pagerank hasnt been updated, for better pagerank from link exchanges avoid sites with tons of outgoing links, as the sites pagerank is split between all them sites.

My latest site just 3 1/2 weeks old, heavyily visited by spiders already, its easy really join some SEO forums and youll learn alot.

It's not that Google doesn't like anyone. Google is just more pickier than the other search engines. It's unfair to start criticizing Google simply because your sites aren't placing well with them. Maybe you need to do some more marketing on your sites.

As SiteBroker said, Google loves backlinks. Content is important, but content alone won't get you good placement on Google. You need quality backlinks as well, and especially if your keywords have a lot of competition.

Yahoo and G**Gle and MSN all look for different things when they are placing a SERP listing for a site.

<short tip> write articles that serve as link baits on heavily trafficked sites such as digg.com and other community submitted content sites such as lifehacker.org. write one awesome (absolutely AWESOME) article that is the best on that subject that you'll find on the Internet, and then submit that particular page to dmoz. when that page starts getting higher in the rankings, people will start bookmarking it on del.icio.us, simpy.com, blinklist.com etc and submitting it to digg.com which will then result in many blogs further linking to it (many blogs exist that do nothing else but scrape articles from digg on an automated basis and put it on their blogspot blog)... for that one single spectacularly written article (which you might take about 12 hours to write), you might in about a couple of months end up picking up 500-1000 backlinks or more that'll effect your website homepage as well.....
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=167515

In short, ever week or so, make it a point to write one article that would serve as a massive linkbait. do this every week once for the next 3 months, and I guarantee that you'll have a PageRank of 6 and above. 7 is a bit tough for a relatively new site, though....

</short tip>

I have seen MSN index and show up results quickly ... but by and large it likes new websites that were found from good neighborhoods...and sooner or later more new websites get ranked above you and loose the traffic quite dramatically.

Google has exhibited this behavior as well, new site with a backlink from high PR / high Bot traffic website means faster indexing and will show up in results quickly... it is like a honeymoon where you see good traffic and just in a month you will be nowhere in the radar of google for the old keywords...

there is some secret formula to make it consistent...

the secret formula is to put the keyword in the URL, page title, description, keywords, backlinks and anchor text. The msn algo is still pretty simple, i rank number one for some pretty competetive keywords when i really shouldn't

yep, i think the keyworded URL - is the key i have tried optimizing the rest but you get a little lower in the index with time unless you are dmozzed or ( i guess some backlinks - from some heavy weight websites really matter for each page you get indexed...) I did test it out in some of my websites and it is true...
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=167515

i bet rather than subdomaining or directory structure your keywords - you can spend some money in dashed URL to pick up some organic traffic and get back your investment through adsense or YPN. So your site is basically multi domained and well linked... ( ofcourse it is assumed that you have fantastic unique content for the keywords under question...)

May be i will give this a try and see if it works...
