Interesting placement on google.

Right now one of my sites is pr 0 but for the search for "gnp Israel 2006" one of its pages ranks number one. This has happened for other searches also where a term is only mentioned once or twice on a single page of the site but my site ranks as one of the top two or three results.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/search-engines/167171-interesting-placement-on-google.html

eg "penciling in sudoku", "comparison of Ada and Penelope","event.keyCode cntr","railroad and Thoreau","CHIMPANZEES INSTINCTS","Heroic idea of Odyssey","increased gestation from Australopithecus to sapien disadvantage", ""Houyhnhnm" "Swift" "humans"","did Frankenstein's monster have a soul". I'm even on the first page for such a common term as "Austria hungry".

If you were to look them up you would see they all lead to the same website and as you can see many of the search terms are entirely unrelated which leads me to my question. Does google give a better ranking in the searches for new sites or sites with many different topics on them?

I think theres a few things at play here:

1. the search phrases you use to find your site do not have a heavy concentration of competition.

2. good layout and content without excessive advertising or graphics

3. PR has little to do with search result placement. it only gives you Google's score on the importance of your site based on the contents crawled.

Finally, this is pure speculation, but I've seen brand new sites rank top 10 on Google for certain keywords, then drop off signficantly within a week or two. This may have something to do with Google's algorithm for new sites indexed. This is only my opinion. I am not a Google expert; just using my 3+ years of experience as reference.

it depends on the competitivenes of the keyword...most of the new sites are getting a nice keyword rankings for a particularly niche keywords...

I've seen this as well. A new site will score very well quite quickly for some keywords, and then fall down the charts in a week or two. Especially if the site and content are not updated and expaned often. Also, keeping the focus of your site as narrow as possible could help more for the keywords you seek.
