Utility to Find All 1 and 2 Word Domains from Expired/Expiring Lists

Update: new version also finds "word-word" names (with hyphen) and puts them in a separate .txt file.

If you are interested in registering good domain names from expired domain lists, this script can be handy. Expired domain lists are usually large and manually inspecting all names can be very time consuming.

This command line Perl utility script will find all names that can be put in 1 or 2 words (typically the most valuable domains) and write them to files, thus [greatly] reducing the domain count. Can be used on Windows with ActivePerl.

* Input file: domains.txt (1 domain name per line)
* Word list file: dictionary.txt (not included, but see the link below)
* Generates 2 files: 1word.txt and 2word.txt
* First letters of words will be set to upper case for better readability (example: AdvancedCooking.com)
* If the domain name cannot be put in 1 or 2 words (without hyphen!), it will not be included in any output files.
* Output all extensions (TLDs), or only the specified extension (for example: ".com").
* Specify minimum and maximum word length (used only for 2 word domains).
* Fast. With 230,000+ name word list and 37,000+ domain list it completed in less than 3 seconds on my PC.

Cost: Perl version is no longer available. Please purchase the Windows version ($25).

There is no graphical interface and no demo, sorry. The script just writes data to the output .txt files and exits. On Windows with ActivePerl (http://www.activestate.com/activeperl/) you can create a shotcut to execute it.

Would you be interested in making a version of your script that would work on a web site so it has a user interface? I think you would have better luck selling it if you did. I have been interested in it, but would prefer something that would run on the web. It doesn't sound like you would have to do much to change it since it's in PERL.. :-)

Domainace: this is a command line script, it has no graphical interface. You will need to put domains in a .txt file and execute it (Windows shortcut can be created). The script will just generate the output files and exit.

I will take a copy, but I need to have the program generate a 3rd list of all the domains that it DID NOT find words in. Is that possible?

Also, can the script be changed to also find domains that are like WordWordWord and WordWordWordWord?

And how do you deal with situations where a word can be found that is part of a larger word like "himself" (him self), "working" (work ing), and plurals like "job jobs", "buy buys", etc.?

nielsencl: I can add a 3rd list that will contain all domains that weren't put in 1 or 2 word list (3... word names, non word names). If you want something else, I might be able to help for extra payment.

It is programmed to find only 1 and 2 word domains, the script cannot find 3 or 4... word domains without substantial changes to it.
If the DN is in wordlist, it will be put in 1 word output file (first check), only if it's not found the 2 word check will be done. Plural word versions would need to be in wordlist to be recognized.

You don't have to tell me, but I hope the script has a way to deal with knowing which to use, single or plural, and also see if the "s" at the end of a plural is really the start of another word? :-)
