Is the max file size for submisions (current 10M) definable by the admin ?
Is the thumbnail generation for videos / pics automated ?
Are there any preinstalled games/videos/pics etc...?
Are there any differnet templates ?
Do you offer small custom design service (Logo/colour/Layout) ?
Also I couldn't find the ad configs in the admin section.

Hey nRnF, thanks for your post, with regards your questions:

1) The max file size is set to comply with the upload limits several hosts have in their default php variables. If you have a dedicated server, or a host who isn't as restrictive in this area, the upload limit can very easily be changed.

2) Thumbnail generation for pictures is automatic, however not for videos or other media. If you upload a pic without your own thumbnail, the script creates one for you. If you upload a game, video etc without a thumbnail, the script will use a standard graphic; "Cool video", "Cool game" etc.

3) At present the site content is a blank slate, however going forward we will be releasing regular free content packs for script owners, as well as larger premium ones (cheaply priced) for those who want even more "oomph" in their site. All content packs will come with sql for simply installation.

4) We've just released out alternative blue skin, which is now being shown on http://www.wootvid.com - this will be included free for all new purchases, along with the original red skin, shown on http://www.vidaddicts.com

5) Custom designing varies according to what you need; for example, we will happy change the logo text and/or font to your preference if you wish us too, absolutely free - however if you want us to produce a completely original logo design, custom template etc then there will be a small fee for this. PSD's are included in the pack, to allow you to edit your own logo etc; and we will be releasing more free and premium scripts going forward

Nice script. Do you have any plans to implement automatic thumbnails for videos and games? Definitely interested in purchasing this, but the idea of putting the thumbnail burden on the users or myself doesn't appeal to me at all. There has to be some way to automatically grab the first frame or something to that effect from the video/game.

As far as I am aware, this would require ffmpeg to be installed as a module on your server. As not a great deal of providers do this, we will not be focusing on this as a priority development, however it is definitely something we will look at somewhere down the line.

Very interesting script. I checked the demo out and have a few questions:

can the nav buttons be adjusted to reflect different categories?
In other words, if i wanted to use your script for a sports site, can the nav buttons be rewritten to categories? NFL, NBA, etc?

If i already have an existing forum, can the members be rolled into having access at the TMS or would they have to re-register? And, can one of the nav buttons be re-labeled and hyperlinked to the existing forum? This way i wouldn't have to take anything down but just include the forum.

Also, is there the option for a paypal module? To protect sections and make them accessible only by paying members?
Such as: the free membership delivers a teaser video, the full paying members can watch the whole thing?

If that's an option, can there be some level of revenue sharing?
Example: User "A" uploads his personal NFL video from the superbowl, he therefore gains eligibility to enter the pool of users for profit sharing.
How much of a profit is determined by the amount $x that the admin specifies divided by the time X that his video has been watched. User "A" gets his share of the profit via Paypal that is entered into the user's profile.
The % key from video to picture should be set by the admin, while videos should have a higher % revenue share than pictures.

You know where i'm going with this.

1) Categorization is one of the mods in development for v2.0. As it stands, the categories are games, videos, pictures etc - so if you were wanting to run a pure video site, then these could be tweaked; however obviously if you're wanting to keep the different types of media, and have seperate categories within each (games>action, games>sports, video>humor) etc, then it can't be done until the mod is developed.

As for the cosmetic changes, once the coding tweaks are done, those are very easy to modify.

2) We are working on a forum bridge as part of the next version of this script.

3) We have been asked about revenue sharing through this script, specifically the type of idea you have mentioned. Something along the lines of your idea would be quite a bit modification - and would probably need to be custom coded at this point. It is feasible, just not on the cards for the standard script package right now.

Its worth noting that we took over ownership and development of this script only a few weeks ago, and since then have been throwing ourselves into making further improvements. As it stands, the script is a great deal for its price, in my opinion, however you do get what you pay for (and a little more in this case) - it is a low cost script, and you rarely tend to find such features as advanced monetization, subscriptions and revenue sharing in a low-cost script

So basically, if that level of enhancement does find its way into this script, don't expect it to still be on the market for $44.99!

Would it make sense to plan on a modular approach?
Start developing plug in modules that can be purchased individually and fit in the overall concept of the software.

I'm seriously considering purchasing a copy, if i could re-text and link the nav buttons, i'd be extremely happy.

I certainly understand that writing software and getting it to a reliable point can be a true PITA, however, when you come up with a pay module, i'd be sold!

Until then, i'll have to figure out how i'd use your software with my already existing forum... (thus, the re-texting of the nav buttons - one should lead back to my forum)

We are indeed intending to go modular - its just easier all round for us and for our customers.

With regards the nav buttons; there are several PSD files included in the script pack, including those for re-doing the nav bar buttons; plus, with a nod towards the modular approach, the nav bar code is in its own seperate file, which makes it easy to edit, relink etc.

For custom modifications as slight as retexting and relinking nav bar items, we're happy to do those for free.

I'm sure if you've either bought the script, or checked out the demo, you've noticed that the admin section is a little drab... so we thought we'd spruce it up for you to make it a little easier to navigate...

This modification will be included in all future purchases from here on out, and is free to download for existing owners in the official forums.

From what I gather, .3gp files can be streamed on the internet through the Quicktime player/plugin - the script could be modified to allow this either as an addition to games, regular videos etc, or instead of those - although this would be at a small charge (no more than $20-$30 extra, if that)

When adding videos as an admin, you have the choice between uploading videos yourself, or adding embed codes from places like youtube.

This option is not offered to users by default, however we do have an optional mod that enables you to do so.

As for hosting, that is not a service we currently offer.

The embedded code to link to a youtube video is a good feature. However, when it comes to uploading content to your own server and playing through your own site, wouldn't that require to have ffmpeg on the server?

No, ffmpeg is only needed for scripts which convert videos into flash format or produce thumbnails from a video file.

These aren't currently features of this script (however are planned as optional add-ons at a later time)

As it stands, the categories are games, videos, pictures etc - so if you were wanting to run a pure video site, then these could be tweaked; however obviously if you're wanting to keep the different types of media, and have seperate categories within each (games>action, games>sports, video>humor) etc, then it can't be done until the mod is developed. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=305996 As for the cosmetic changes, once the coding tweaks are done, those are very easy to modify. 2) We are working on a forum bridge as part of the next version of this script. 3) We have been asked about revenue sharing through this script, specifically the type of idea you have mentioned. Something along the lines of your idea would be quite a bit modification - and would probably need to be custom coded at this point. It is feasible, just not on the cards for the standard script package right now. Its worth noting that we took over ownership and development of this script only a few weeks ago, and since then have been throwing ourselves into making further improvements. As it stands, the script is a great deal for its price, in my opinion, however you do get what you pay for (and a little more in this case) - it is a low cost script, and you rarely tend to find such features as advanced monetization, subscriptions and revenue sharing in a low-cost script So basically, if that level of enhancement does find its way into this script, don't expect it to still be on the market for $44.99!

Start developing plug in modules that can be purchased individually and fit in the overall concept of the software. I'm seriously considering purchasing a copy, if i could re-text and link the nav buttons, i'd be extremely happy. I certainly understand that writing software and getting it to a reliable point can be a true PITA, however, when you come up with a pay module, i'd be sold! Until then, i'll have to figure out how i'd use your software with my already existing forum... (thus, the re-texting of the nav buttons - one should lead back to my forum)

With regards the nav buttons; there are several PSD files included in the script pack, including those for re-doing the nav bar buttons; plus, with a nod towards the modular approach, the nav bar code is in its own seperate file, which makes it easy to edit, relink etc. For custom modifications as slight as retexting and relinking nav bar items, we're happy to do those for free. I'm sure if you've either bought the script, or checked out the demo, you've noticed that the admin section is a little drab... so we thought we'd spruce it up for you to make it a little easier to navigate... This option is not offered to users by default, however we do have an optional mod that enables you to do so. As for hosting, that is not a service we currently offer.
