In case anyone's interested, I just put up a DIY search engine submission site here. It submits up to 160+ search engines and directories.

Go give it a test run and let me know if you come across any bugs. Thx.

You need to add the www.

Your submission is a very good one.

It submitted my site to alot of url's it is very nice, and yes you should lose the pop-ups, it makes it look like ad-ware almost to me.

Thanks for all your comments. Regarding the pop-ups, there is only 1 single pop-up ad on the whole website. Although, I did this project for fun (took 2 days) I still need to find a way to cover the server costs.

My options where either to charge for the service or the pop-up ad. In the end I felt the service should be free and I think people would prefer the ads

Certain submissions failed because the search engine/directory:
a) is under maintenanace
b) only accepts manual submissions
c) have graduated to paid submissions

For those who find the service useful, please support me by putting a link on your website or in your sig here at NP.

Btw, just added a list of free pr3 - pr5 directories that you can submit to without reciprocal links - good for link building.

Iravan: guess I'll need to learn from you here. How do you block the spam since it's coming from different email addresses? I've had to remove one of my favourite email account because of this spam.

And guys, one thing to note is that search engines (read Google), had been reported to block sites that build links too fast, i.e. considered "spamming".

That's why it's unwise to pay for those get-listed-on-10,000-search-engines-for-$50. So regarding the pr3-pr5 directory, use it wisely via scheduled submission and make it seem as though your links are growing organically. Once my new hosting account is ready, I might put up a reminder service.

I can't afford to pay NP$, but anyone who find the service useful and would like to help, do put a link in your sig or better still, on your website so other people may benefit.

Well Opt out, and block them... or be like me and use disposabel email adresses. (Free service that comes with my email!)

Hardly. But it's ok cos it's part of my contribution back to the forum for all the help that I've gotten in the past

I started as a complete noob 2 months ago when I joined NP. I've learnt much since then and have been very happy with the performance of VistaWallpaper.com - a 1mth old project:

- first page ranking on MSN, Google, etc for certain vista keywords.
- 850 members
- Avg. 580 unique visitors/day
- 750,000 Alexa ranking
- 500+ backlinks
