password protection

sorry to bother you all again but ....
im making this site for a client and he wants a section of the site for members only. So they have to enter a user name and password to get to view these pages. The breif said ONE password so im assuming that although the users will have different user names(or maybe the same) the password is same for them all.
The site dosnt have to be that secure as no money transers or important details are been kept.
I know how to do it in javascript but thats easy to hack as the password will be displayed in the source code.
Any pointers for this would be good on how to do it or where i should be looking and would it be as easy to give each member a unique password or should i stick to just the one for now.

You could use a flatfile or database. Zend has a simple tutorial in PHP that might help you.
