What kind of development do you want to do? Google is your friend. If you want to learn the basics start at w3schools.com. Then you can start downloading free templates from the web and reverse engineer and try to recreate them. Really the best way to learn is by doing/trying it on real projects.

Try w3schools.com it is good for HTML XML and Javascript basics. If you want to learn PHP then just search google. Millions of sites are there. There is no particular site that teaches all. You may try Beginners book from Wrox publication, it is good too.

Well, mehmlyndsy, By web development, I assume you mean building websites from designing to dynamics and interactive parts of websites that include javascript and php. The first and foremost thing to remember is that you never stop learning. Understand the system behind a coding language dont try to memorize everything. Good luck in your adventures.

I would recommend www.W3Schools.com(read below). but if you don't mind spending some $$$ i would also recommend checking out www.lynda.com they have a great range of training videos for almost all topics related to web development.

The best place to learn PHP is ofcourse www.PHP.net (offical site)

If you want 100% accuracy and up-to date knowledge, w3school.com wouldn't be your best bet! It has no authority and is only popular because of its age. It's also easier for beginners... So i'll just leave it upto you if or not you still want to go with it - But i surely wouldn't recommend relying on it until they fix things up and even then would rather recommend you have more than one good reference at all times to be sure.

As someone already mentioned, try w3schools.com. There are tons of online tutorials. As soon as you find out what you learn (web design, scripting with php, asp, etc..), you can find the tutorials you need.

you can look in youtube. there are a lot of video tutorials in there. I think you can start learning html first. then move to using web programming language like PHP, ASP.NET.

W3schools.com is a nice place to get your feet wet. I recommend first getting a good handle on xhtml and css and then move onto something like php/mysql.

Start with a CMS (Content Management System) . You will have database linked websites/blogs almost immediatelly. The immediate satisfaction will keep your interest in the field. THEN as you start getting deeper into customizing your sites you will learn PHP programming and CSS templating as you need it. Three most common CMS systems are:
- Wordpress
- Drupal
- Joomla

Either get a hosting account for live websites, or install WAMP or XAMP locally on your machine to get your sites running as non-connected prototypes.

You can join a local group of any of those three CMSs to get an initial boost.
