![]() | Content Managment Systems(CMS). We've all come across some CMS, be it PhpNuke, or vBindex. But there are a few others. Recently I've been working with NCaster, a CMS designed for gaming sites. But I just don't know how to work the damn thing, its a complete enigma. I've installed it, and now I don't know how to create layout templates and, or display them, its nuts! Maybe you can recommend some good CMS systems, ones which allow me to have articles, news, reviews and specific content sections which would be relatively skinable, and so that I could convert this site: http://www.thegamingnet.com/index.php to a CMS powered site. |

![]() | mambo is way 2 fiddly and hard to use, even for advanced people. There are many more better systems out there.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The best thing to do if things don't work out is, make your own or hire someone to do it. I am in the process of making a CMS for my gaming site, and theres no way I would use premade cms's for it.

![]() | I didn't like Mambo, purely because she wasn't designed for gaming sites. I've repatched NCaster, because apparently my copy was broken, heh. But now I've a new problem. I want a WYSIWYG editor which I can use to open html files and save them in a folder, all using the WYSIWYG editor. Anyone know a way? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I use http://www.php-update.co.uk/index.php - simple but powerful CMS, with a straightforward templating system.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I used to use PostNuke, and I did try other CMS scripts also. I wasn't happy with any of them because the designs I made needed to be coded in a certain way and some parts had to be removed because they didn't fit and that made the layout look bad. Besides that, it was frustrating setting up the links in the navbars and modifying all the other settings. I'm sticking to normal website, uploading the pages and updating the websites manually is faster for me, IMHO. |

Some people can't won't do it for these reasons: ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=62529 1. Don't have the knowledge required. 2. Don't Have the time to do it themselves. 3. Are to lazy to do it themselves. Still its good for business.

I have it but haven't had time to go through it yet. Few CMSes have good references. PostNuke may be a better candidate if said book turns out to be good, which seems the case on first impression. Check out that book and see if it helps. Post your feedback here, or better yet PM me. I'm not settled on PostNuke yet. My other candidate is Drupal, not Mambo. I'm inclined towards PostNuke at this point. I'm no tinkerer and don't have much time to figure things out own my own. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=62529
Was it before 0.75? As I understand, 0.75 and later is the start of a new level of quality.
