i second -NC- as firefox and firebug. supposedly firebug debugs javascript, but i've never gotten around to figure it out. i'm too much in love with it's html and css powers.

Without Firebug my development would take ten times as long, it helps in so many ways its untrue, with the use of ajax recently its network monitoring is VERY useful! You can also edit the entire page in realtime so you can test out minor tweaks instantly.

i saw a "javascript debugger" in the new google chrome (tools button up top -> developer -> js debugger) but i didnt actually use it so i dont know if it works well or not. stick with firebug.
