I have a DREAM : NP vs POOL & SNAP

I`m been reading a lot of info on dropcatching and still I think that we don`t know the whole story.

I keep thinking that since there is toooooooo much money going around in the drop business , something fishy has been told to us so far.

Back in the early days of the .com , few pioneers discovered how to pick up dropping names with their scripts.

Why don`t we put together all our knewledge and start trying to compete with POOL & SnapNames? I know that they have a lot more of financial resources but a computer is a computer. Maybe they get 500 names and we get 1 but it`s a start.

What do you think? Is it possible?

If its in their system, it'll be impossible to capture unless you have similar resources I fear.

I could be wrong on this, but I think that snap & pool have negotiated deals with registrars so that they get preferential treatment / first pick of the drops....

You need more than a computer.

Snap has tens of registrars working for them with direct connections to the registry.
If you don't have a registrar you can still make your own scripts using a registrar API I pretty much doubt you will get anything valuable (it's slower and you don't get direct access to the registry).

uhmm...interesting , do you have an example of such scripts?

I have heard of some guys using something in their own ccTld where Pool and Snap are not fishing.

Some UK domainers have some good scripts for catching .uk names, but don't expect them to share the information with you, or even the program / script unless you pay a very substantial amount! ($1000+ for a copy atleast).

There are some guys working in the .IN namespace who use similar scripts to picking up 3 character .nets and .infos.

There are a few scripts available for sale, but no idea if they are effective.
These days the registrars are grabbing and tasting everything which leaves little room for the little guy

I can`t believe that in this large community , no one thought about creating a serious Dropcather business.

Well there is a reason. Auda is against monetizing of .au domains.
.au is not an extension for speculation.
