Question Whats the best app(.exe etc) proggraming lang. for db interaction

Hi,
ive recently had an urge to get into proggraming windows applications that can interact with online databases, a bit like what happens on dynamic-sig.com

The type of db I'd want to be interacting with is mysql.

I was looking at C++ or VB, but to be honest, im not really sure of their capabilities.

Thanks in advance

Alex

You do realize windows is predominantly written in C++

They are more than capable of database specific tasks. Basically any of the major languages has a good database support. Some require however additional libraries.

I would also like to know this, and (since i want to learn a desktop language) what is the best to start off with, C, C++ or C#? I just wanna make some basic stuff and what compilers do you use? The libraries for all these different things confuse me

Yes it does. You will need the MySQL API which provides the necessary C functions. Alternatively you can use the C++ wrapper MySQL++ if you want to use OO mechanisms.

From my understanding C# is the preferred choice for new programmers. C can be useful if you wish to get a basis (1 of the main differences between C and C++ is that C++ is object orientated)

C# is the best language to learn if you are new..

But your question is like.. What kind of apple do you like? It is a matter of preference.. Try each one until you find a good one, most languages have good DB interaction..
