Advice Anyone?

Ive had to build a site for work to display some photos, im not the best web designer of programmer so its pretty basic at the moment.
if any one can offer any ideas to improve it or just take a look through the files (download from infomation page) and tidy up the code.
Thanks, a nice job is riding on getting this looking as good as poss in just a couple of days, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

I think the page looks very nice. Clean, elegant.

I did notice a few things:

First, clean up all the image captions. A lot of the images say "Enter your descriptive text here." Which is kind of a turn off. So just remember to go through those captions before you demo the site.

In Firefox, the top edge of the photograph cuts into your navigation bar along the top, so you might want to try and clean that up.

In IE, it looks like the like to the "Mammals" gallery drops down onto another line.

One more thing I noticed is that the first time the enlarged image downloads, there is a brief pause (it's brief for me, but I have broadband) where the area is blank. You might want to swap a pre-loaded "placeholder" image or some text along the lines of "Downloading Image" Preloading all the images is an option as well.

One final thing, and this probably isn't a big deal, the captions for the images get squeezed over against the edge of the page when the image is aligned "landscape" (like this lovely picture of the owl here.)

Anyway, good luck and nice work!

P.S. "Infomation" - A typo
"bulid" on the "Infomation" page - another typo.

Ditto what he said ^^^^. Also:

In Firefox, the bird on the main page - http://www.astonweb.pwp.blueyonder.c...phy/index.html
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=183474
cuts into the left text as well as the top nav bar.

You may also want to validate it against W3C standards
- html http://validator.w3.org/
- css http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/

It's a pretty good start though! Once all the little errors are fixed, that'll be a really good site!

thanks for a lot of good advice, Ive done quite a bit more work on the site so please take another look and comment. I just started working on a frame for the site.... so nothing really aligns very well at the moment. Id like to know how to make the 2 text links on the info page black, i use a class style but it does not work.

also, the color for hyperlinks is too light. the grey blends in with the background, making them hard to see. otherwise, nice layout.

some of your comments have typos, i was just looking thru them and i caught one:

on the Reptiles page, the last alligator, it says "Altough it many look like im in the water, the shot was taken through glass as the animal was in a tank."

try not to use "im" instead of "I'm". at least use somewhat proper grammer on ur formal website.

can any one help me box the the text on the right a little better, maybe frame it using css with a grey frame. can i also put a bold line above and below the menu words, a solid line though not one that broke between each word.

is it possable to nest a layer inside a table?
