| NamePros Regular | Hi guys, Ive just subscribed to dotcombuilder and am having some problems using their ftp. I really need some help asap, can anyone help me? Basically when I go to install it asks for 1.Server, 2.Username, 3.Password, 4.Port (21) Ive got past that and then it asks for a directry to install the files. This is where im stuck. It says enter : URL to Chosen Directory/Path: (Note: NO trailing slash: / at the end.) (E.g. http://www.mydomain.com/directory) So ive entered http://www.mydomain.com/public_html (replacing mydomain with the actual domain) but it comes up with an error saying : Error: Verification of URL to Chosen Directory/Path failed. Please try again, make sure your URL is complete with domain + the directory/ies. Can someone help me please. Either reply to this, PM me or add me to MSN : robandevermorerock@hotmail.com asap please! Many Thanks ![]() Rob Im with BlueHost |

| DomainersUniversity.com Team Leader | Hi Rob, http://www.mydomain.com/public_html is not a valid URL in your web space. You need to create a URL like http://www.mydomain.com/directory. The "public_html" is invisible to any URL -- it is a server path, not a usable part of your URL. Any directory you create inside your "public_html" will become http://www.mydomain.com/yourdirectory Quote:

| NamePros Regular | Thanks Gene, Thats a big help. Ive uploaded the files to BlueHost now and dotcombuilder says to to to http://www.mydomain/admin but theres nothing there when I do. Is there a certain folder I should be uploading the files to for them to show on my webpage? Sorry if this sounds a bit amateur, I just need a bit of help on this first one. Many thanks Rob |

| DomainersUniversity.com Team Leader | Hmm, I don't know why that would be. If you upload to a folder, the files should be right where you put them. Unless the directory 'admin' is reserved by your host and can't be used by you. Try making a different directory. Quote:

| NamePros Regular | Thanks for the reply again gene. The files did upload as I can see them in my file manager on BlueHost. I saved them to public_html/directory So theyre in the directory folder which is in the public_html folder on my server. It might sound like a stupid question but how to I get them to show up on my domain? --- When I type in www.mydomain.com/directory (where the files are) it comes up with this: Warning: mysql_connect(): Unknown MySQL server host 'bluhost' (1) in /home/ratefoud/public_html/directory/connection.php on line 6 Cannot connect to the database. Have I entered the wrong Host name? Should I contact BlueHost for the Host name? |
