Would this be possible?

Hey,

I run an online parts/accessories website on the net. My wholesale distributor has a website that has literally 1000s of products that I am able to sell thru my wholesale account. The only thing is, is I'm having to go to their site for each product, get the part number, name of the part and the prices for each product that I'm wanting to add to my site. Not only this, but I have to constantly keep looking every couple of weeks at each product to see if there is any price change here and there.

What I was wondering, is if it would be possible to get a script or program made that would go thru their site, go thru the categories, the year, make and model, and copy the part number, name of the part, and the price and compile an excel/access file from this. Then I could do some minor changes to the excel file and upload it up to my store and have all of the parts that are available to me, available to my customers. I have already checked with my distributor to see if they have a database that could be supplied to the wholesalers, but they don't.

I have no idea if this could be done or not, but if it can't, then it would be too time consuming for me to manually look and add all of the products and check every few weeks for price changes etc.

Have you checked with your wholesale distributor to see if they can send you that information? I can't imagine they wouldn't want to provide this to you in some form so you can sell for them...

Yep, I called and asked them yesteday afternoon. They said they don't have anything that they could provide me to use besides info on their website

Then I would be looking for a new wholesaler personally. The majority of them have a file that contains the data that you need. I am sure something could be written for you but it would take tons of time and probably be expensive.

Yeah, the only reason I really want to use this wholesale distributor is because since they stock basically everything, shipping can be combined and I could just place 1 order with them instead of several orders for each order that I receive. Other distributors that I have seen don't generally give very much at all off of the regular price as opposed to this one.

Thats just odd that they don't have anything at all. Heck an xml document would even do. Unfortunatly if you want to stick with them then you have to do it manually or pay some one who will work cheap (off-shore maybe) to do it for you.
