1. you need to be a bit more patient with your posts, someone will reply

2. in awnser to your question, frontpage is for newbiews such as yourself use that and learn html like you know your family before you move on the other things. If youwish to create graphics i suggest getting some knowledge of paint shop pro quite easy to use

The proplem is, your question is a bit vague. Do you want to learn to design graphics, layout webpages, program website backends (databases or ecommerce), or something else?

What's an easy program to learn? Microsoft paint is easy to learn. But then again, if it's easy to learn, it's probably not going to let you design a good looking website.

Most webdesigners use Adobe PhotoShop or Macromedia Fireworks for graphics. For coding a website, most use Macromedia Dreamweaver. Flash is popular, but I wouldn't recommend it if you've never designed a website before.

For my web design projects, I use:
Adobe PhotoShop 7
Macromedia Fireworks MX
Macromedia Flash MX
ColdFusion Studio 5
Dreamweaver MX
3D Studio Max 5
TopStyle 2
And a few others.

Hope that helps.

Strictly speaking about HTML editors, I personally recommend Microsoft Frontpage for starters, Macromedia Dreamweaver for immediates, and Notepad (or ImageReady) for advanced programming.

Notepad for advanced programming? I see what you're getting at but that is a pointless recommendation. It makes sense for even advanced programmers to use something that highlights code.
