this is one of the reason why i dont like phpbb because they have updates very often. Why can't they stay like vB. This is another responsibility for a forum admin to update their phpbb now .

I don't like using phpbb or ipb or even vbulletin because they are all overloaded with junk i dont need...and I can never trust any of them to be secure

only way i like to use any script on my site is if I code it or know somebody who codes it even then i still ask for help on security

vB is paid ..phpBB is free. What do you expect? And IMO, phpBB is a pretty nice proggy being it's free. vB has the funds to hire staff and more coders etc etc, phpBB doesn't....

also what, would you prefer that they didn't release updates?

This update is probably 1 of the easiest in a while, there are only 2 template updates and only 1 is really necessary.
