Pre-modded messageboards?

I need to add some mods to my new bbs. Looks like a hard piece of work to me because I don't know anything about php, that's the problem. Now I'm wondering if a pre-modded messagesboard may be a wayout?
I just found phpbb PlusXL for example. Sounds very good what it has to offer.

I avoid pre-modded forums like the plague...They are always just so cluttered and messy with stuff that you will rarely use...not mention they are near impossible to maintain and upgrade. I say install the basic forums and install a few mods that you actually need. Might not be easy, but it is definitely the best solution in the long run - There are plenty of people out there who will be willing to help you also

dont use pre-modded as it will dbecome impossible to install new mods such as the cash mod or one you like

Go with vBulletin if you can afford it. Hacking (modding) it is so much easier thanks to the new plugin system.

And if you can not afford it, then go with MyBB. It is almost like vbulletin except it is free. And it also has plugin system (only there aren't that many plugins

)

Actually I'm working (struggling

) with a phpbb plusxl 2.0. Has an endless list of mods. Some of the sound really great to me. However, its not easy to customize.

Yep, I vBulletin wouldn't be bad, Scott. I have just a limited budget and it seem likes I have to spent each cent on promotion and advertising.
