Yes it's possible. I think what you're looking for is "streaming music." There's so many different ways to go about streaming music, but to really do it right so it works for everyone you'd need a streaming media server. But if you do a search on how to stream music or streaming music etc. you'll probably figure out one way or another to do what you're wanting.

I think what he means is something like an MP3 Player, that plays music a person selects from his computer. Its possible in JavaScript (Internet Explorer only), and in Flash (best-option).

I've made a JavaScript MP3 Player (not web-based and has bugs). You can download it here:

Oh yea I just re-read the original post and I think that's what they are looking for. So basically just offer a button that opens a browse dialog box and allows the user to browse to a music file on their computer and open with their own media player. Not sure how to do that one though.

If I read his post correctly, I understand that he wants a script that a client (the person viewing his page) can click the Browse button, select an MP3 from his (the client's) computer, and then listen to it in his (the client's) browser. Correct?

seems like that would have security issues and the users would need a lot of trust in your site

so is broadcasting mp3's to other people which is basically what they would be doing from their pc.

To be allowed to that you need to pay royalties.

No, what hes trying to do is make a Web-Based MP3 Player. Like a Web-Based Windows Media Player.

I can make one that works in Internet Explorer, but not in Firefox/Netscape. If I come up with a cross-browser one, I'll let you know.
