How much dose the avg cost of paying a programmer?

For custom jobs, web applications & sites can run up to $150 USD an hour with professionals.

For custom Windows apps, it can be the same, but usually the pricing is based differently. (Since TEAMS usually work on those.)

For a job here at namepros, it's usually just a flat fee per job.

Also depends on what language you want it in, and exactly what the program is.

It also depends on the location of the programmer. If you want a US Programmer, it can start from anywhere but usually around $25 US/hour. Overseas in more developing countries or where the economy is strong or has been overloaded, prices can start considerably cheap.

It's all up to the quality of work you are trying to achieve.

A lot of times you get what you pay for. It is hard for a good US programmer to stay in business under $75 per productive hour. Going oversees can easily be cheaper per hour, but there are also other costs involved.

Our rate is $50 an hour, but I guess we have to increase this rate, even we are "oversees"

not really, as compuxp stated it is ussually teams that partake in large projects. If they charge $150 and there are 5 in the team thats only $30 an hour which isn't a huge amount. Also they may go a long time without another project so they need to charge accordingly.

I usually charge in the $30-$35 range for small projects here on the forums.
