Ruby on rails ! You gotta check this out..

http://www.rubyonrails.org/

This is one of the best Web application framework available today. It has become inspiration for many php/python/perl/java projects. But original remains the original.

Check http://www.rubyonrails.com/media/vid...with_sound.mov to see why it's the best !

As soon as you need to get something more complex out of it you get screwed... Which is a pitty because ruby is a very capable language. I'm not impressed by the framework though.

I found a nice tutorial on how to install it under a system using cpanel(/whm)
Does require ssh access of course

I guess there are already many complex web applications developed using rails.

I lost the link to the competition which was to dev. a rails application in 24 hours. It had some awesome applications which can very well serve as an example for your next application.

But I think Ruby has the potential to take over php. When it comes to development, time counts. If Ruby's code stays short and stable in the long run then i guess it can actually take over.

Maybe a bunch of new, unexperienced programmers trying to mod a few files in Ruby and calling it their project... This is what corrupts the free community.
