Yes if you are talking about PPC. None other pay even nearly as them.

The whole industry is unsustainable at this level of $'s for advertisers and cents for webmasters. Gooooogle needs to take a long hard look at itself IMO.

I find a mix of AdSense and Ebay Partner Network works well on collectibles sites.

Check out the Google Keyword tool to see search volumes, etc.

Lots of people are using WordPress based systems if your development skills are weak.

As an Italian who moved to Australia you should be able to find some interesting niches where you could have fun writing about your experiences and get paid for it.

I even doubt that other sites cant even come close to adsense revenue.

It's true with todays economy advertisers are not paying anything to speak of so companies are not paying publishers squat, so as an alternative you can always monetize your site by selling your webspace and/or traffic to get your revenues up.
