I got this email from them.... is it really a true alternative to google???

Hmmm... Let's see what's wrong with this picture.

1) First time poster asking about some new program.

2) The new program's domain name was regged just a few days ago.

registration-expiration: 12-Jun-2008

3) The domain name's whois is private.

4) And...

Well let's just stop at three and call it a day!

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, odds are it's a duck... (or in this case, possibly some sort of SCAM!)
