Today, I am launching the new update to our Bodis.com parking service. A lot of changes that our users have asked for are now finally live in this new version.

First off to those that do not know: Bodis.com is currently a domain parking platform to monetize undeveloped domain names. You point the domains to us, we show relevant ads, and split the revenue with you.

I checked the new options and have 3 quick questions:
- Where can I manage CPA providers?
- I don't see Master Keywords in Manage Domains. Are they removed?
- How is the template CTR calculated? I guess the templates were used different number of days and that earning most is used most often. Perhaps adding RPM column would make it more clear?

Example:

Template A earned 40 USD and was used 10 days
Template B earned 30 USD but it was used only 5 days

From above we conclude that template B is better. However it cannot be figured from the table with template earnings because we don't know how many days it was used. I guess you currently extrapolate the results to full month?

Anyway I tried to check referral and cannot see referral on say last week. It goes all the way to referral since 2007

There is no way to manage CPA providers. I just announced it on the What's new page because Bodis has been doing it for a while without any formal announcement and people didn't know that and ask why there are CPA offers. So now I make that announcement that we use CPA on certain domains banned by our upstream provider.

Template CTR is calculated just like your clicks CTR. RPM is different. RPM measures it based on revenue. We used to do it by RPM but that was a big mistake. You will get abnormal clicks sometimes like $1-$2 that would throw the optimization off if we did it by RPM.

CTR is the correct way to do it because it does not take into account the revenue. The difference in templates will not change your CPC, it will only change your CTR. So that's why we don't use RPM to calculate it. I used to use RPM 3 years ago, and it was a mess.

Templates are optimized in realtime. If template A CTR falls, then template B takes effect, then if template B CTR falls, template A takes effect again. It is a never ending optimization.

Starts from January 1st, 2012. I have all the data spanning back to 2007 but it is inaccurate and all over the place. Would take me weeks and months to try to fix that.

Instead I decided to start from Jan 1st, 2012, and will add in a row that shows the total revenue that is not included before January 1st.

It is only possible with Bodis because we also give you the CPC, CTR, Clicks, and Revenue for each referer URL. With a hosting account you only get visitors.


Master keywords haven't been used since we switched to our upstream provider's keywords 4-5 months ago. They have a policy with Bodis where we cannot use our own keywords. I fought this policy but no go unfortunately.

This was reason to why we delayed this new UI. Because originally I also gave you custom keyword management, RPM on a keyword basis, and other keyword related tools.

Good find on the $ instead of %. I'll have that fixed in the final version.

Well this is how it works. I check referral. I was surprised that the majority is type in. THen I check the date. It's from july 2007. At that time I still use javascript redirect.

I wanted to make sure that we got referral info as I have been 302ing which should preserve referral info. I tried to see what referral info from January 2012 but cannot.

Teguh, as mentioned, referal/country data begins from January 1st, 2012. We don't have any data before then in the reports.

I'll be sure to include some message in the final version to avoid confusion.

Matt. When you click on view settings & stats for any domain, the actual page which shows the settings doesn't show you which domain you are looking at. I think that should be corrected

Also, it looks like you have disabled the back button in some places so you have to click on the link on the page, ie << Back to All Domains

Matt, most of my visitors come from baidu, google, sogou, etc. I am using 302 to redirect. However it seems that your site think that most of my visitors have no referral information. Also I wonder where the new referral again.

I think I already phased out javascript redirect completely. I am concern that you are not getting referral information as you should have. Well as long as google keeps paying who care. I will have to examine this further.

I wonder if you have any reason to see why it doesn't work.

That's what puzzles me actually.

I checked your account and I see mostly search engine traffic so you must be looking at something different. Please do the following:


->Earnings Report

->Click January 2012

->Go to January 8th 2012 and hit Other, then select Referrer Site

->You should seeon this page that it is mostly search traffic

Really a MAJOR step forward! Amazing improvement with the templates. I hope that you will continue to add more templates. Parking pages now look much more attractive. And very easy to select a template.

Go to the Manage Domains page, and hit CTRL+F5 to do a hard refresh. The template selection will be in the middle in a form of a drop down.

I will try to change the code so that it does a hard refresh itself.
