Question

Hi everyone,

I just started an Indonesian Business Forum. I have once section of the forum dedicated to helping people advertise their business. A lot of users are using the section to post their website links. I am wondering whether all these links that are being posted on my site will hurt my Google SEO? Thanks, would appreciate your help.

Brendan

I believe the general philosophy at google is that you are responsible for the links that are posted on your site but is not necessarly responsible of links pointing to your site.
(Please correct me if I am wrong here)

Personally I would make sure all links in that section of your forum are "no follow", which means user will be able to see them but Search Engine Crawlers, or spiders, will not follow them. This way, you'll be sure that your forum is never involved in any kind of link farms.

Because I have to protect my site I have made it so that links are only visible for user who are logged in.
Search engines don´t do this.My forum PR is constant. That´s all I need.

Hey guys, I think I'll apply the "no follow" idea. Thanks for this, I really appreciate it.
