Google Adwords Keyword Tool- How to Use Properly?

Hi all!

As you all know, I'm still very new to the domain market (and terribly failing at it so far... so frustrating!)

I do a lot of research on Google Adwords Keyword tool for a lot of TLD extensions. I work with usually the .com's and the UK market as well.

However, how the heck do I know if I domain is good or not?

For example, I have a UK domain that has a about 1000 results, in the financing niche, but gets $20 for average cpc.

What's better? A domain that gets a high avarage cpc or one that gets high search results?

---

What do you look for in Google Adwords Keyword tool to determine if it's a good domain name or not?

I'm just really stuck.

You need to determine if you'll be able to rank for those terms. Thats the hardest part of the process. It can take a few hours to find a good keyword and domain combo but actually ranking for it so you get any traffic is the hard part.
research what sites are currently ranking for those terms.
Usually its easier to rank for phrases that have less traffic BUT it depends on the niche of the domain. Some sites (real estate and financial terms) might have low traffic but other sites spend thousands of dollars and hours ranking for them.

If the domain is in .com or .co.uk I would register it regardless of any other factors. In your example that is a high CPC and even with little traffic would generate profit with only 3 or 4 clicks. I would not register it if the CPC were below $3. However that is a personal preference, not a science.

If there were less than 500,000 search results I would register even with CPC below $3 because it would be easy to rank any developed website.

I am assuming that your using the "exact" adwords search results.

My ideal hand reg is a keyword relating to a product or service with 4k-5k "exact" search results and a CPC that is $3 + in dot com, dot org, or cctld(.ca). Occasionally .info because they are so cheap. Again that is what works for me and is nowhere near a science.

My only other advice is to keep reading the forums, get on the domaining.com email list and don't be afraid to ask questions.
